Ian Kench makes his long awaited first team debut at Henley on Saturday as Elthamians continue to shuffle their pack.

The former Esher captain and England Counties lock joined the club in the summer as a player-coach, but a shoulder operation has forced him to watch from the sidelines as OEs have romped to a club record seven victories.

He returned to action last Saturday in the Extras’ impressive 38-12 victory over London Scottish Highlanders, and goes straight into the starting first team line-up in place of Charlie Self who is rested.

Kench forms a new second row partnership with Freddie Hosking who also returns to the side after being given last weekend off to recover from a midweek match for Exeter University.

"Ian has been ready for a few weeks but we have delayed his introduction because of teaching commitments and then I wanted him in the dug out at Taunton," explained DoR Gavin Lach. "He has been fully training for over a month but we've held him back."

Elsewhere, Hamish Barton resumes the captaincy at openside in place of Truman Sullivan who takes his turn on the bench while scrum-half Ollie Claxton and full-back Chris Surman return in the backs after being rested last Saturday.
