History
Oldfield is a friendly and welcoming rugby club where the focus is on playing good rugby on the pitch and having a great crack off it. We are a social club and are always looking to recruit new players of any standard, young or old, fat or thin - so if you want to join a friendly, progressive club then you need look no further.
Founder members like Dick Millard worked tirelessly over many years to help the club acquire a bar on the Lower Bristol Road (next to the Green Park Tavern), this eventually generated enough cash for the Club to buy land and build a clubhouse at our current Shaft Road site.
In more recent years a succession of committees have served the club well and a number of years ago we disposed of the Lower Bristol Road site. This has enabled us to focus on developing and investing in Shaft Road, where we now have the best playing facilities in the area.
During the close season we completed our ambitious extension and clubhouse refurbishment plans. This new facility opened in time for the start of the 2010-11 season and if you haven't already seen it, be sure to pop up and take a look - we think you'll like what you will find.
The club also has serious ambitions on the playing side and with new Head Coach Shaun Williams at the helm, ably aided by his sidekick 'Craig Lils' the progress made on the pitch already has been substantial.
Please do look for ways to play your part in our continued success on and off the field.
