Oldfield’s sublime performance last Saturday against SW1 West league leaders, Brixham (23–19) brought their tally of wins for 2012 to four on the bounce.

The culmination of wins away in January at Thornbury (17–20) and Berry Hill (19–22) along with completing the double over then, second placed Avonmouth Old Boys (15–7) has put Oldfield in line for the prestigious, Bath Chronicle Team of the Month Award, in association with Greensward Sports Consultancy, the prize; a signed Bath Rugby shirt and the traditional crate of beer.

In the running for the award, as compiled by the Bath Chronicle are:

KEYNSHAM EXILES: Wins over Walcot, Clevedon and Yatton extended the Keynsham 2nd XV's unbeaten run to ten games and moved them up to second in Somerset 1, where they compete with many local 1st XVs.

STOTHERT & PITT: The Cranes won three out of four tight games this month, putting them a clear fourth in Somerset Premier. Their only loss was a 21-19 turnaround at the hands of a strong Weston-super-Mare 2nd XV.

OLDFIELD OLD BOYS: Home wins against Avonmouth and Brixham, plus victories on the road at Thornbury and Berry Hill, gave the Shaft Road club the perfect start to 2012. The run could have come too late for a promotion push but shows they are adapting well to life in South West 1 West.

The winner will be announced in next Thursday’s Bath Chronicle.
