The Future “Burns” Bright

Huge congratulations to Billy Burns who received his first, call up into the professional game from Gloucester Rugby at the weekend.

It has been an amazing five months, which kicked off on the 3rd September, when Billy made his 1st XV league debut for Oldfield in a thumping 37 – 8 home win against Penryn.

After a few matches for Oldfield he found himself playing for Hartpury College and in November he received a call from England and was selected to play as starting fly half for the U18’s. To cap off this meteoric rise, on February 4, Billy came off the bench at the Madejski Stadium and ran out for Gloucester Rugby’s 1st XV in the LV= Cup against London Irish. All this in just five, remarkable, short months and whilst still only 17 years of age.

A massive round of applause for a magnificent achievement from everyone at Oldfield RFC, young grasshopper, you have an incredible future ahead of you.
