Old Gs look to continue their recent run of good form on Saturday as they take a short trip to local rivals Vigo.
Contests between the two sides always proove to be lively entertaining affairs, generally played in good spirit for a local derby, with Vigo securing a narrow victory in the return fixture earlier in the season.
Vigo currently sit in 2nd place in a highly competitive Kent 1 off the back of a win last week at Gillingham. Old Gs, whilst considered underdogs for this fixture, come into the game with confidence following a run of three straight victories and will look to keep this momentum going. They are fully aware that they need to put in a strong performance to secure a victory over their counterparts from North Kent - one which they are more than capable of.
In terms of selection Old Gs have picked up a few more injuries after the bruising encounter vs Southwark, adding even more concern to a season blighted by players on the treatment table. This week Pat Foreman and James Hood miss out with shoulder and ankle injuries respectively, with Paul Mitchell, Doug Wilson and Jack Nash also unavailable for selection.
Brett Buckingham, Noel Hartley and returning Lewis Moss are in the front row, backed up in the 2nd row by Joe Martin and Frazer Barnes - a relationship that goes from strength to strength. Andy Morris looks on with envy from number 8, thinking what might have been between him and Barnes, with Kevin Spain gazing adoringly from the blindside at his idol Phil Costley at 7.
Chris Bassett comes in at 9 for the absent Doug Wilson, where he accompanies old friend Matt Holdstock at half back. The physical Ben Wadsworth moves to 12 to replace Foreman, with leading points scorer Greg Humphreys coming into the 13 shirt. In the absence of Hood, Ryan Lockyer takes his spot on the right wing, with in form Matt Wilson on the left. Chris Johnson retains his spot at full back.
The bench sees a welcome return for Ollie Goodchild, where he is joined by big Tom Hammerton and the evergreen Steve Thompson.
