Sensational Grovians Dissect Medics on their own Ward!

Promotion party put on ice as Medics are humbled at home

This performance was as stunning as the result was emphatic! Leeds Medics & Dentists were not only beaten in this contest but for the first time this season, they didn't even get on the scoreboard. True, some will point to a changed Leeds side to the one that won an enthralling contest at Elm Tree Farm earlier this season but that will be little comfort to a team who came into this game ready to celebrate winning promotion. Instead they finished it, second best to an Old Grovians side who dominated in all areas, except the penalty count!

Lock, Jack Baker was a power house in the pack, while skipper Chris Blackhall showed glimpses of his old form, bouncing off would be tacklers as the visitors constantly got over the game line. Centre, Anthony Griffin was again a stand out player in the back line and with the Magee brothers, Aaron and Ben providing searing speed down the flanks, old Grovians were lethal in attack - both crossed the try line in the opening 10 minutes with the full back left flat footed on each occasion.

On the other side of the ball, the diminutive figure of Joe Harrison was a one man tackling machine and despite conceding far too many penalties Old Grovians, bolstered by the experience and size of John Oakes in the front row never allowed Leeds to find any rhythm. By half time Old Grovians led 20-0 and shortly after they effectively ended this game as a contest.

The outstanding Baker scored their 3rd try with Oakes in the sin bin. Ben Magee added 2 more to complete his hat trick and but for a couple of missed conversions the embarrassment might have been greater still for a Medics side who we're never at the races as Old Grovians wracked up 47 unanswered points.

In what has been a long, tough, injury riddled season for the Yorkshire 3 new boys this result is one which will certainly give everyone at the club plenty to be confident about and one which leaves them still chasing a top half of the table finish - a target which will be achieved if they can beat Northallerton next week.
