Formation Oldham Boro History - Formation
Formation
Chairman Mark Kilgannon, together with a newly formed committee, launched Oldham Boro in 2009 following the demise of Oldham Town. Though having no ground of their own, the group of volunteers were determined that Oldham should still have a non league team with it's name to be proud of. Following a lot of hard work plus assistance from their NWCFL colleagues, the new club were accepted into Division One of the North West Counties Football League for the 2009/10 season.
With the help of Oldham Council, Boro managed to secure a 3 year lease to play at The Whitebank Stadium (owned by Oldham Roughyeds Rugby League Club) and are currently in the second year of that agreement. Since it's formation, the team have been managed by Tony Mills. Tony was joined in January 2012 by Peter Freakes who came on board as co-manager, bringing his wealth of experience in non league football to the Whitebank.
