OH 33 Teddington 2's 0
Tiff's cry off and Teddington step in!
This ended up a rearranged fixture as both our's and Teddington's oppo's cried off this week. We were a bit apprehensive as this week was a struggle on numbers with notable absentees such as the Studt, Flaxman,Paddy and Glam. We ended up with 15 with Levi from Thamesians making up the numbers.
The Teddington players modelling all sorts of Club stash started to arrive a full 45 minutes before our guys and did a big warm up before we had double figures in the changing room! However from the kick off it was obvious that OH were the better side and were all over Teddington. The front row of Baker, Evans and Gallant completely dominated and frustrated their oppo and should have won numerous penalties as Teddington were marched back or folded. The watching Ex Players who were all well fed and watered roared their approval adding to Tedington's frustrations!
Max and Frank at 9 and 10 controlled the game well and I thought our handling was very good in terrible conditions. It was that sort of day when your need your big forwards to step up and James Mann, Hugh Brown and Sam Evans were all excellent. We had the better of the scrum and line out so well done to everyone in the pack. They should have had and deserved a couple of penalty trys to reward their dominant performance!
The backs were rock solid in defense and took their chances well. It was a day for hard running by the backs and a good old fashioned kick and chase and we scored 5 trys and 4 conversions with a couple of these summing up Teddington's day with their attack breaking on our defense and us scoring up the other end of the pitch.
It was great to see winger Ben Chapman get a try on his debut and even better to see flanker and ex 1xv Captain, Alex Kemp playing again.
MOM is a difficult one with some outstanding candidates but I can't separate Frank and James Mann on this occasion.
