Old Leamingtonians RFC combined forces last weekend with the Entrust Care Partnership to hold a music festival for young people over 12 and young adults with a disability together with their friends and families.
Entrust Care Partnership is an organisation which strives to raise awareness of the needs of disabled children, young people, adults, and their families and combating barriers to opportunity. Their aims are driven by the values of inclusion, independence, choice and control.
OLs with Entrust Care Partnership have run a disability rugby team for a couple of years and this last season a Mixed Ability Rugby Team, Entrust Care Partnership Director, Emma Smith had the idea of creating a larger event to bring together disabled people in a fun environment and to demonstrate the work that Entrust Care Partnership is doing to improve the lives of these young people.
Together with Julie Liddington, OLs Events Manager, Emma put on a marvelous afternoon and evening of entertainment entitled “Just Imagine” supported by 50 Volunteers. 7 bands including the local Rock Choir, a Coventry based group called the Noteables and an up and coming band from Birmingham called the Clinks, rocked the crowd.
150 Festival goers, including Club Chairman Phil Eales, were also entertained by a young local magician; Angus Baskerville. Lots of fun was had in the silent disco and karaoke tent.
Emma said that special thanks had to go to Bromwich Hardy, Peach Pubs and The Racehorse Warwick, the sponsors for the festival. She added that she is already planning next year and would welcome help and participation. She can be contacted at email@example.com
