Old Leamingtonians Take Over BT Sport – Rugby Tonight
OLs have been very busy lately, what with the proposed Wasps Training Camp initiative at The Crofts, they still found time though to get involved in a TV show.
Club Chairman, Phil Eales and a number of players made the journey to the BT Sport studio in Stratford (East London) last Wednesday to take part in BT Sport’s popular Rugby Union programme “Rugby Tonight”
The show was hosted by Sarra Elgan with rugby legends Laurence Dallaglio, Austin Healey and Ugo Monye managing the challenges and the mayhem with special guest Scotlands head coach Gregor Townsend.
Ist XV winger Calum Semple and colt Alex French were put to the “smashmeter” test hurling themselves at full speed into the tackle bag. Calum’s score of 132 was the highest to date, unfortunately this was in the practice prior to the live showing in which he reached a score of 86 that saw OLs in joint 4th position on the score board
In the “passing challenge” OLs ‘dream team’ managed the whole game without a dropped pass!!
Arriving back in Leamington at Midnight all 9 of the participants agreed that it was fantastic opportunity to meet some of Rugby’s most eminent ambassadors and to have some fun whilst at the same time being a great advertisement for the game, the community and the Old Leamingtonians Rugby Football Club.
