U10s put on a good display of rugby
OL's responded with discipline and determination to win the morning
Every now and again our players will make a leap forward , today was one of those days. Old Coventrians delivered an intense game and the ball was played well by both teams with great handling and support, however running with the ball was always going to be a challenge as today the defensive game was solid and disciplined. The tackles seemed more purposeful and with little error. Tries were more often than not the result of a break, completed with pace. OLs delivered a passionate performance today, there were some knocks and bruises but the kids got back onto their feet and executed the next tackle. The lesson for all today was the evidence that skill, intelligence and heart is what wins games.
There was also something that stood out today which confirms the stance that the coaches have taken of mixing the players up. We have players of mixed abilities, but what we see is that those who we think have the abilities keep changing, all of our 40+ players are progressing, each one of them discovers that they can do something new and better. This excites them and helps they to come out of their shells, confidence is growing, their friendships are blossoming. There is no doubt that every player in our age group holds their own in the group, every player (without exception) is a key member of the team, and every parent or guardian should be proud of our players.
