OL's dominant and playing good rugby
Entertaining and fun morning, thnaks to everyone for manning the kitchen too!!
Again, a super effort from the boys on both pitches, we competed well against Harbury and the dominance of our teams reflected how well we played as a team. It was a game of 2 halves though and this was due to the complete bossing of the first half resulting in 'foot off gas' in the second. The tries epitomised how they can function as a direct attacking unit and most were the result of using space/width and utilising the runners supporting the overlap. In defense, they tackled well and were rewarded at the breakdown, again due to the drive to boss possession.
The second half was a little less controlled, the try of the first half was a combined 5 pass out with speed following one of the very few scrums - blasted over by Sam K. The try of the second came via the boot of Lucas (20 yard grubber finishing just over the try line ) watched eagerly by Pelter who had lost all his markers and dived on the loose ball...champagne Rugby...
Offload game, an anonymous welshmen texted me earlier to say simple instructions seem to work well. That said, there was far more passing and the boys did some really intuitive and skilful stuff.
Leading on .... we are very good at disrupting defences with quick play - early free passes, quick touch restarts, essentially not allowing opposition to get organised. From what we saw today, every time we reacted quickly and went early we scored.
Rucking is improving, and making good stuff happen.
Here is the criticism...
Got taken into touch too often, need to work on stepping inside and/or developing switch moves so winger steps in, so lets work on that next week.
thanks all from the Coaching team.
