OLs triumph in try fest finale at the crofts ..

Firstly a big shout out to Tom Morrison , James May & Jamie Durrant who helped the Barkers ranks to ensure a competitive game was played. Conditions were perfect for some good running rugby and it was not long before Barkers winger went over in the corner , 0-5 . OLs then replied with a super 60 yard dash from Thomas Wigham to the Barkers 22 - the ball was then recycled by the OLs bqack row and the ball spun out at speed to Will Walker who finished out wide but managed to make his way under the posts , Jake Pettifer converts , 7-5 . The OLs forwards provide plenty of ball from the breakdown , strong work from Ben Thompson with a counter ruck allows Jake Pettifer to dummy and dodge his way down the flank and release Ed Gray who comes up short but excellent support play from Oscar Nagle sees claim OLs third try of the day , Jake converts , 14-5 . Despite some great tackling from Jordan and Dylan Barkers reply with a great score of their own , 14-12 . But back come OLs with a kick chase and a bobbling ball which Any Boag gathers and scores , 21-12 . This see-saw game continues to keep the crowd entertained and back come Barkers again with another try , 21-19 . The final play of the first half sees Dylan chip through with a well placed kick which is again gathered by the speedy Boag to score out wide , Jake completes the conversion and a pulsating half ends 28-19 to OLs .
The second half carries on in the same vein with both teams providing a great spectacle in running rugby .Ben Thompson creates more ball for the backs with some fantastic counter rucking and the ball finds its way to Jack Edwards out on the wing who then sprints 20 yards before losing his balance and fashions a double Olympic style gambol (his Dad shouts something about a male chicken !) before landing in touch . Some scrappy passing from OLs allows Barkers back into the game by scoring in the corner from the lose ball , 28-24 . Its game on again , however Olly Craig has different ideas with some bullish rucking and ball carrying which eventually sets up Jack Edwards to score under the posts , 33-24 . Ed Gray joins the try fest with a super 50 yard run after collecting the bouncing ball and dotting down under the pots , Jake converts 40-24 . Barkers are not to be denied and capitalise on Olly Craig's sin bin (swinging arm and unintentional slap) by scoring again , 40-29 . however its the home team who have the final say with two brilliant individual tries from Caellach Welland and Jake Pettifer see OLs triumph 52 points to 34 - a great finale to end the season and played in the true spirit of the game .
CHAMPAGNE MOMENT - this week has to be Jack Edwards for his double gambol whilst still managing to retain the ball and his dads volley from the side-lines C**K ! which he backed up to the opposition by declaring it was his son and he can call him what he likes ...

It’s our final Kids First Champion for the season! David ‘Flats’ Flatman and two special guests surprise Ellingham & Ringwood RFC.
