OLs Colts v SOA Colts

OLs Colts ease past local rivals Stratford

SOA colts visited the crofts on a damp and drizzly Saturday afternoon . The game started in dry conditions , however , but SOA were a prop short after the warm up so the ever keen Alex French steeped up to the mark and filled the void . A tidy start from the home team saw OLs with plenty of territory in the first quarter but no points to show for their endeavours . It was not until a well worked lineout move (straight from the training ground - well done the coaches ) allowed Oliver Craig to catch and drive up the flank before neatly offloading to George Smith who finished the move dotting down near the corner , 5-0 to OLs . The OLs pack continue to provide the backs with plenty of ball and some clever inter-play between Ed Gray and Jake Pettifer produces space for Warwick Syms-Golden with plenty still to do , to finish nicely in the corner - 10-0 .
SOA stay in the game with some fine attacking play of their own and score wit an overlap out wide , 10-5 . Shortly afterwards Oscar Nagle is binned for going off his feet and OLs are reduced to 14 , however a barn storming run and try from Nathan Chant sees the score notch up to 15-5 to OLs at half time .
The weather then plays its part and constant drizzle in the second half affect's both teams handing and several errors creep into the game . OLs remain the dominant team but both team struggle and the match becomes very stop/start . It is not until mid-way through the half that the forwards recycle the ball well (good work from Brenan Lumby and Josh Partridge) to create several phases of play which then leads to tidy hands from the backs to give room for Jamie Reynolds to score in the corner , 20-5 . Stratford battle well and put in a big defensive effort and the game becomes a level playing field in the conditions before a final OLs thrust in the shape of Oliver Craig who scores just before the final whistle and Will Davies slots a nice conversion to see OLs home with a comfortable victory 27 points to 5 .

well done boys and coaches , still unbeaten five games in ......
