1sts Look To Bounce Back As 2nds Aim For 5 Out Of 5

This Saturday sees the 1sts return home as they play bottom of the table Church Fenton. We need some bouncebackability this week after a hugely deflating 2 wicket defeat to Hillam & Monk Fryston last weekend. It seems that the overseas player for Church Fenton has already gone. He won the league averages last year.

It was good to see our youth system working for the 1sts last week as John Harrison and Manjit filled in for us...................................................

It must be mentioned that Matthew Armstrong-Hollingsworth bowled as well as he has done for the club last Saturday. It was cruel that his 5 wicket haul wasn't enough to lead us home. He got the 3 points for Star Man with Nick picking up 2 and Stu Cobbett 1.

The Division 1 averages see Stuart at the top with an average of 121. Stu is a club man and would much rather we won games than get personal gratitude. That's the attitude needed for the 1sts to have a good season. Nick is 14th in the averages with Shayan 15th. Nick is also in the top 10 wicket takers. The New Beefy Botham perhaps !!!!!

The 2nds also play the bottom of the table side in their Division, away at Scholes. We are now top of the table by a point above Church Fenton who are next week's opponents. 4 wins out of 4 is a tremendous achievement and full praise goes to Tim Carter and the lads. Last Saturday the 2nds won a top op the table clash with Tim bowling 45 overs whilst keeping at the same time and umpiring. He opened the batting, made teas and dressed everyone after the game. A true man of the Leos people is Tim.

Long Martson sent a tweet to us suggesting we were clear favourites to get promoted. Let's not get too giddy yet. One swallow doesn't make a summer as we all know...................

The 100 Club is now launched with the first draw at the end of June. Please let me know how many £20 tickets you want and pay as well please !!! Carts has pledged to buy 5. Setting the example there yet again !!!!

The weather forecast is mixed for tomorrow but we should get games in so come down to The Crag and support the 1sts and have a few beers.
