That Was The Season That Was

It's that time of the year again when whites get put away and are still dirty in April for the first game.

Here is a tongue in cheek review of the 1sts in their Division 1 campaign for 2015

Game 1 - Kirk Deighton Away

Well KD were playing a 45 over a side match and we decided that was too long and boring. 240 odd run defeat. Never judge a season by the first game..............

Good Day - Adam Taylor scored 48.27% of our of runs.

Bad Day - 29 x 48.27% meant that Adam scored 14 and we scored 29 !!!!

Song For The Day - Things Can Only Get Better - D:Ream

Game 2 - Church Fenton Home

Newly promoted Fenton found us to their liking. Comfortable victory and a nice early 4.30 finish. This part-time cricket was starting to be enjoyable......

Good Day - We scored exactly triple the amount of runs from the previous week.

Bad Day - 3 x 29 is still only 87 !!!!!!

Song For The Day - Misery Chain - Chris Cornell (A chain being 22 yards for all you youngsters !!)

Game 3 - Barwick Away

The world's coldest day officially. But a win and the winning wicket taken by Chris Butt. Its all a dream surely. No it's not. A 5 run win

Good Day - Our Fast Bowling allrounder Chris Butt winning the match with a jaffer of a ball.

Bad Day - Shayan deciding to catch a ball with the bone in his finger. Ouch !!!!!

Song For The Day - Everyone's A Winner - Hot Chocolate (now covered by Gun)

Game 4 - Wetherby Home

We are now unbeaten in two games. On the up definitely. Game rained off !!!! Even our new state of the art drainage system is beaten by the deluge.

Good Day - All day session that ended at 12

Bad Day - Gatecrashing a 4 year old girl's birthday party at the club. Yewtree and all that.

Song For The Day - Lost In The Flood - Bruce Springsteen

Game 5 - Sicklinghall Away

We got to the dizzy heights of 171 for 9 in a storm force gale . Nose bleeds all round.Pity Sicklinghall scored 175 for 2. Spoil sports.

Good Day - Raj with a 50. Celebrated it by having a cigarette whilst fielding

Bad Day - The worst wind associated with Leos cricket since Jason London hung up his boots

Song For The Day - Blowing In The Wind - Bob Dylan

Game 6 - Scholes Home

The unbeaten run continues against bottom of the table Scholes. Easy victory........if we hadn't have lost 4 wickets for 0 runs with 2 needed to win !!! Boyes' 4 won it but there were many squeaky bums in the large crowd.

Good Day - Sykesy for his 5 for. No tankard for Michelle's I'm afraid, only for tons

Bad Day - Dicko who was sat in his pressed jeans and immaculate shirt only to realise he was next in !! Don't panic Mr Mainwaring !!! What made it even more bizarre was that he turned up in his whites but wasn't in them when needed !!!!

Song For The Day - Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top

Game 7 - Bilton Home

All good things come to an end and our undefeated little run went after a defeat to Bilton who tried to lose it in Leos collapso style. A 3 wicket win in a very low scoring match.

Good Day - Chris Scaife for ending his run of 7 consecutive ducks. They had even changed the words of 12 days of Christmas to "7 Ducks are Scaifeing"

Bad Day - After the 2 over mark when we were 30 for 2. We scored 30 in the next 22 overs !!

Song For The Day - Slow Train - Jo Bonamassa. Summed up our innings perfectly

Game 8 - Garforth Away

It all clicked as a total of 220 for 4 defied belief and logic. Poor form by Guesty for jug avoiding ridiculously by finishing on 99 not out. Pity Garforth knocked the runs off with about 15 overs left.

Good Day - Chris Scaife for getting debutant Shamraiz to give him a lift back into the centre of Leeds

Bad Day - Scaifey, as Shamraiz put his taxi meter on in Garforth's car park !! Needless to say, Chris got a lift of someone else !!!

Song For The Day - Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell

Game 9 - St Chads Home

Oh dear. A hangover from last week. A right dicking. 95 all out and Chads replied by losing one huge wicket !!! They were to win the league though. Had to be good to thrash us.

Good Day - Jesus that's a tough one. Nick for being top scorer and wicket taker in the match. A true allrounder in every sense of the word.

Bad Day - Shamraiz. Batted 11 for a duck, didn't bowl and didn't get a fare from the club either.

Song For The Day - What Goes Around Comes Around - Justin Timberlake (Cart's favourite artist)

Game 10 - Shadwell Away

We lost. That's all I know as I wasn't there !!! Smudger didn't go to watch either......................Bad memories (not mammaries) By all accounts we should have won but lost 10 wickets batting second which usually leads to a defeat.

Good Day - South African leggie Rowan making his debut. After illness scares, great to have him on board for 2 games a season.

Bad Day - TC for ruining his average of 1.333 by getting a duck

Song For The Day - Memory - Barbara Streisand

Game 11 - Scarcroft Home

It was deja vu again as we let the opposition score more than they should have, then we get skittled for 120ish. 36 from a 79 year old opposition batsman hardly helped. Half way through the season now. It's a long summer.

Good Day - Carts for taking 3 for 40 in 12 overs and 3 not out to boost his batting average to over 2.

Bad Day - Raj for severely injuring his finger nail whilst wicketkeeping. It was to keep him out cricket for............. 13 minutes..........or 2 cigarettes.....

Song For The Day - Living On A Prayer (whooa we're half way there,whoaa......) - Bon Jovi

Well that is the first half of the season done.

The second half of the season follows shortly folks.........................
