Friendlies update

The first team have been in action these last few days playing their first friendlies. Saturday 21st July saw them facing Thetford Town on a hot afternoon. A good run out for the lads building important fitness for the coming season. A strong Thetford side won on the afternoon, 5-0 respectively.

Tuesday saw them face Bury Town under 23's, some great football was played by both teams and chances created to either take the win but it was Old Newton who won on this occasion 2-1.

Thursday 26th July sees the return of the A team to Church road, the first time in 3 seasons. Gavin Johnson and Phil Piper have a squad of 16, we have a mixture of young players making the step up to adults football, a few new faces and a number of Newton veterans to. The A's are playing against Stow town under 18's so a good run out on a scorching hot summers evening, kick off 6.30.

Saturday sees the reserves playing their first friendly an away trip to Halesworth t face their reserve team. Nibby and new assistant manager Paul Thorndyke are keen to get back to playing and will be hoping to improve on becoming last seasons Inter A champions by having a good run in the cups.

The first team are at home on Saturday with another tough game against senior league side Grundisburgh.
