Back in action

Last night saw the A's return to football with a game against Stow Town under 18's. Both teams worked hard on an exceptionally hot evening and a large crowd enjoying some good football. Stow Town took the lead mid way through the first half with a fine team goal, the passing and movement from the players was a pleasure to watch. A few changes at half time saw the young Newton players having a well deserved break from running in the heat. Newton had a few chances but couldn't finish and was to be punished later on in the second half when a mix up from the keeper saw the ball fall to a Stow player who slotted into an empty net. With tiered legs from the heat and a very hard pitch Newton were caught on the break and an excellent cross into the box was headed into make it 3-0 on the night to Stow under 18's.

A few lessons learnt from the game, the A's fitness is no where near where it should be and with some tough friendlies coming up some hard work will have to be put in.

All the best to Stow Town Under 18's they are a very hard working and well organised team.
