Derby day defeat

Well first home game in weeks and the lads came in with few sore heads, like a lot of teams I expect!

Secret Santa presents were handed out before the game, the best one had to be Tookeys hat, and by the way we played every player should of had one!

Well to the game, with a big crowd coming to watch, the lads didn’t turn up! I’m not going to take it away from Mendlesham, they came with determination and a will to win for each other, which got them through the game. The game started with tackles flying in and there really wasnt much football being played, but on about twenty mins in the ball into our box wasn’t challenged and the Mendlesham player hit a shot which looped into the corner. We then had a couple of chances just before half time but Nick in goal saved well, so half time 1-0 down and Mendlesham were looking for a lot more than. We brought Baxter on for Jack but Baxter was only on the pitch for 5 mins when both players went into a tackle. Some people say it was a red and some say it wasn’t, but if u leave the floor you are taking a risk these days and he was showed the red, so backs against the wall. We were will still having a lot of the ball but we couldn’t break Mendlesham down at the back, the few times we did Nick was there to save. With ten mins left the ball came down the left which went out but they carried on to put a ball into the box for a Mendlesham player to tuck away and take the points. A bad day for us, which all the lads felt in changing room after, we need to go again next week and make it right .

After the game both teams stayed and had drinks together and had the xmas jumpers on. There was a really good vibe around the club house and we raised around £500 in aid of St Elizabeth's Hospice, great effort from everyone.

This Saturday we are away to Sporting 87 who are on a run so we will need to be on our game and try to get back to winning ways!
Hope everyone had a good xmas and have a few drinks on new year .
