Local Derby win for the first team

The weekend before last I had the joys of a week off and went and watch the Reserves who where very unlucky in their cup game, with few lads catching my eye .

Last week we welcomed Bacton, old neighbours from down the road! The pitch was looking a little bit wet and with the rain coming down it was going to be a bit of a mud bath.

I had the luxury of being able to chose a full squad this week, with everyone available first time all season & decided to load the bench up, Cookie also came into the team to make his debut and didn’t take long to settle in and feel apart of the team .
So on to the game, with Bacton in fourth place and us in third this was a must win game for both teams to keep up with the top two. Bacton came out playing some nice football and finding a lot of space although not really troubling Dan in goal, who came in from the reserves and had another top game. With a few adjustments to the formation we started to get on the ball and began to play football, with both keepers not really having much to do until about 20mins when Luke Austin opened the scoring with a contender for goal of the season! 25 yards Luke smashed the ball over the Bacton keeper, this game at a good time and we began to relax with Drummy and Cookie playing some nice football.

Bacton always looked dangerous on the break and from set pieces, with the lively Ross up top Bacton went close before the break. We scored our second soon after with George making a good tackle, getting the ball forward for Cookie to lay to Joji who was through on goal to set up Drummy to get on score sheet .

The second half started the same as the first and soon got our third when Alex, who was having a great game, turned his man out wide to set Drummy up to get his second . The pitch was starting to look really sloppy and Bacton kept pushing for a goal, never giving which was a credit to their lads on a rubbish day, and nearly got their reward but there player missed the target. With Deano and Ash keeping the back four solid and knocking the ball about from the back we then scored our fourth. Jordi getting forward down the right to slip the ball through to Luke who hit his shot which beat the keeper but hit the post, Jack Bolton however, was on hand to smash into the roof of the net and he deserved it, the lad runs his socks of every game! So 4-0 win and a good one to have after some bad results, the lads know what they have to do if they have any chance on going up!

MOTM went to Alex Drouet, well done mate. Donkey of the day was Ben Luxford, never heard a mud slap like that before!
If anyone knows where they do extra small shorts can you let Luke Austin know he’s struggling to find some that fit .
This week we are away at Barham, another hard game.
