Old Newton Reserves v Bildeston Rangers

Home Defeat

On to Saturday, with the sun finally shinning, Bildeston were our visitors. Bildesron have been on a good run and have a cup final to look forward so we new they would be on a high and would have to be at our best. Bildeston came at us in the first ten minutes and we defended really well. We caught them on the break when Cooke got onto a through ball to pull back to Ross who found Austin at back post to score. We then doubled the lead with good work from Austin who squared to Cooke to score to go 2-0 up. Austin and Cooke both also going close to increase the lead.
It wasn’t to be and Bildeston got back in the game, a free kick, which went into the box, was headed into the net with half time approaching, then they were awarded a penalty which Bildeston converted to make it 2-2 at halftime.
The second half was as good as the first, with both teams not letting up. Billdeston took the lead from a short corner, ending with a shot which some how ended up going through everyone to end up in the net. We then drew level, Cooke latching on to a ball to make it even again. Both teams were still going for it and the turning point for me was the next goa. Bildeston had free kick on half way line, which still now I wonder how it went in, but it did! With the game coming to an end Bildeston were awarded another penalty which I won’t say to much as I don’t have best record, suffice to say it was a very interesting decision, but never mind.

So Bildeston took the spoils, fair play to them, and would like to wish them all best in their final.
MOTM was Ash Thompson, Donkey was Jay Hindley.

Next week we travel to Trimley Red Devils and hope to put it right.!
