The A team were crowned Directors League champions with a fine seven try display but had to weather an early onslaught from the visitors and did little but defend for the first 20 minutes, 10 of which with 14 men.
However when restored to a full compliment a fine line break by Jamie Evans
and offload set Ash Young
through a gap, still with plenty to do he jinked to the line for a score under the post and an easy conversion - even for me...
This was followed by a fine solo effort from the rampaging Scott Oldham
and the half was rounded off when Graeme Primrose
, just back from several weeks out crossed in the final play of the half.
The second half started in great fashion with Primrose adding to his tally chart with a great 60 metre run and from this point on we never looked back, relaxed in the knowledge we would be champions and played some of our best rugby.
That's not to say Olney rolled over, far from it they didnt give in and pushed all the way to get a score, The ONs defence however, as it’s been all season was resolute and not to be breached.
Several phases of the play in the Olney 22 resulted in Scott Oldham
getting his second score of the day in the corner and then Graeme Primrose
rounded off his hat-trick by kicking through a lose ball and falling on it over the line.
The scoring was completed from the next kick off as ONs moved the ball to Dave Fraser
who handed off his man and raced to the line.
Great celebrations at the end with bubbly flying and smiles all round. Easily my favourite afternoon in a ONs shirt.
So that brings to a close another season, the best ever for ONs 3s/A team?
To finish on a personal note it's been a huge honour to lead such a great side for three seasons and lifting the trophy for me will be the perfect end.
