A first time for ON's girls - playing a 15 a side club match, and on a small pitch.
ON's got off to the best start with Lucy J. and Gina exchaning passes straight from the kick off allowing Lucy Juffkins to score within 30 seconds without Herts touching the ball or making a tackle. Unfortuantely ONs then switched off and allowed Herts to gradually fight their way back into the match, with Herts benefiting from a long series of penalties, culminating in a try from a set penalty move. The match ground on in similar fashion until Hayley Brooke touched down from an ON's forward drive instigated by Ellie Bradford.
Half time came, 10-5 to ON's.
In the second half ON's began to spread the ball out more effectively which allowed Ella Halcrow to touch down in the corner. Herts replied quickly to keep the gap to 5 points. However, having seen a weakness out wide ON's exploited it to the full and Ella scored 3 more tries in quick succession.
Herts scored a late consolation try and th ematch finished 30-15 to ON's.
ON's didn't always produce their best rughy in this match, but still came away with a win. Plenty to work on before the next match!
