PACKING A PUNCH AT THE PARK - BRISTOL - 26/05/2012
Twenty three volunteers from the WBR team of Lloyds Bank in Bristol together with four 2nd Chance Project workers and two members of Old Redcliffians under 16’s RFC congregated at an unused former Youth Centre to take on the challenge to turn it into a boxing gymnasium.
Their biggest challenge to date saw them renovate the centre consisting of a large recreational area with 5 adjoining rooms and a kitchen. The duties included initial cleaning & tidying and necessary preparation work before attacking the walls, ceilings and woodwork with gallons of white emulsion and colours of The Park’s logo.
The project was a resounding success and was summed up by 2nd Chance Project Managing Director, James Mapstone who was astounded by the speed and sheer teamwork by all those involved.
Prior to the event WBR raised additional funds to boost material costs by way of arranging dress down days and a cake sale.
Media coverage on the day kicked off with an interview by Andrew Pavey with BBC Radio Bristol and several interviews were also filmed which will be used at the Business in the Community Annual Awards dinner.
