Under 9's The Raiders

Old Rishworthian Under 9's hosted Skipton RUFC on Sunday, with the 'Raiders' hoping to avoid a repeat of the 11 - 0 drubbing handed out by Skipton the last time the teams met.

Rishworthians Raiders 4 - 6 Skipton
Things didn't start too well though with Skipton taking a 3 try lead by the end of the first period. The Raiders then started to play better attacking rugby. A good attacking ruck saw scrum half Ben Riley float a pass out to Tom Craven, who crossed the whitewash to pull a try back for Rishworthians. Skipton scored a fourth try before some ill discipline gave away a penalty which was taken quickly, resulting in the Raiders' Callum Bell making a strong drive over the try line to make the score 4 -2 in Skipton's favour. Hooker Sam Puddephatt then made a very good break to score in the corner for Rishworthian's, which made up for an earlier score from the same player that had been disallowed, and brought the home side to within one score of Skipton. Despite some great defensive work and determined running by the Raiders, Skipton managed to scramble a couple of tries to extend their lead once more. Man of the match Ben Riley once again fed a lovely pass to winger Kallan Jamieson who scored a well deserved try just before the final whistle, making the score line Rishworthian Raiders 4 - 6 Skipton.
