A better team performance but just not enough for victory

Kilburn Kosmos RFC 15 pts --- Verulamians RFC 8 pts
As a strong pre – Christmas London NW3 promotion contender Vees slipped to their fourth defeat in a row against a determined team whose attacking pressure in cold, wet and muddy conditions in the first 30 minutes gave them a comfortable 12 – 3 lead at the break. It was only in the final 10 mins that Vees sprung into life and gave warning of what came about in the second half.
It was as though the half time pep talk began to turn the game around with tenacious forward drives backed up with a resurgence of good handling moves by the backs. The increased pressure on the opposition defence eventually enabled Alex Ricci’s pin point cross field kick to winger Jake Lawrence to cross the line. Unfortunately Gareth Waters hit the post with the long range conversion to leave Vees trailing by 12 – 8 until the final ten minutes when Kilburn were gifted a penalty right in front of Vees posts to run out 15 –8 winners.
The coming two week break from duty should give the Club physio much needed time to work some recuperative magic, before Vees entertain Cheshunt RFC at Cotlandswick on Feb 17th KO 2 pm.” Please be aware that we have a Lunch pre the Cheshunt game starting from Midday and costing £20
