FOCUS AREAS TO START WITH:
The club members were asked to nominate a lead for the 5 categories selected from the evenings meeting and this will form the basis of a development plan going forward.
Paul McGoohan agreed to coordinate the group, it is important that the group link in with the club exec and it forms part of the meetings and planning going forward, the lead people should also create a team of helpers in their planning and carrying out actions.
1- Funding: George Thompson
• Facilities- Parking/ Change rooms/ Club House
• Socials
• Fundraising club events
• Council agreement and linking with HSP/ COUNCIL
2- Players: Michael Saunders
• Targeted schools, assess where most of the kids are from and start with those schools
• Create stronger school/ club links
• Pe/ staff to forward what schools are playing in the league, dates for tag festivals.
• What age groups are short?
• What do the players want from the club? Have you asked them?
3- Coaches and referees: John Hatchett & Andy Towle
• Audit of what qualifications each coach has
• Arrange for some coach cpd/ referee development
• Aim to get a qualified ref for each age group
• Have coach and referee evenings , share ideas and experiences from the season
• Reward system for the volunteers
4- Promotion and publicity: Rob Saunders
• Improve external and Internal communications
• Strategic and continuous posters and adverts in local areas, update and renew
• Website- most clubs have moved onto Pitchero- search on Google, they manage and create template you just upload info, also great for text and e-mails to all club members, send weekly newsletters , great management tool.
• Improve information about where the club is; look at improved signage at entrance and along pitch.
• Have open days for local schools and get RFU and Saracens to support you, along with Herts RFU
5- Volunteers: Nicola Diplock & Nicky Crain
• Ask and recruit more
• Contact your local CVS, St Albans are very good.

• Do an analysis of what you currently have roles specification of what volunteers will need to do.
