On a weekend when Willies were not supposed to play and disappointed that England tickets had been left by the wayside a very depleted side travelled to Footscray. With 14 players starting the game the Willies were always against it but to be only 7-0 down at half time was a fantastic achievement and there was a belief that something could be got from the game. With the arrival of Fielders and Pooper at half time Willies went out and tried to play the ball through the backs.
Things didn't go Willies way for a number of reasons and when the side were reduced to 13 players for infringments Footscray made Willies pay. Three scores and 2 conversions left a flattering scoreline which Willies will feel hard done by. In attack there was plenty to feel optimistic about and this young team have a promising future ahead of them. What Willies need to do is to play to their game plan and the results will start to go our way.
