On a mild January day, The Old Boys played their first home game of 2022. Playing with the hill in the first half, The Willies got early points on the board with a well worked move ending with Harry Stanford going over the white wash. Bowie with the extras.
The Old boys showed set piece dominance. Two tries from driving line outs soon after the first. Firstly Ed Burton and then Tom Whitnell. Bowie successful with both kicks.
On the front foot, the boys in blue and gold secured the try bonus point with only 20 minutes on the clock. Strong running lines and good hands ended with Tom Collins adding to his Old Wills try tally. Bowie 4/4.
The half ended with a clever kick over the top from Bowie being collected by Harry Stanford and finishing his for his second of the day. Bowie immaculate for the tee in the half. 35-0
Going up the hill in the second half, The Willies knew they were in for a tougher test. The set piece dominance continued with Tom Little walking over to score after a strong OW scrum. Bowie slotted the kick.
Foots Cray threatened to get back into the game. A line out close to the Old Williamsonian line lead to a try from a driving maul. 42-5
This was to be the only score for the away team as the OWs got back on the front foot. Sam Green finished a well executed team move and Harry Stanford (man of the match) completed his second hatrick of the season. Bowie converted both scores.
The match finished with 1 last Old Williamsonian try. A well worked team move ended with new boy Roshanne Johnson dotting down in the corner. Bowie - who was superb from the tee all day -made a perfect 9/9. 63-5.
The Willies return to action on Saturday 29th looking to continue their winning run in a top of the table clash vs Park House. UTW.
