Hook Norton 2 v 3 Old Woodstock Town

Match Report

Old Woodstock got back in to the habit of starting the game slow, this giving Hook Norton the upper hand and putting Old Woodstock under pressure.
With Hook Norton still taking the game to Old Woodstock, a mistake in the middle of the field in the 24th minute gave the ball to Hook Norton. The ball was played through for Hook Norton’s D Poole to put the ball pass J Simmonds to make it 1-0.
Old Woodstock could not get their passing game going and their play looked very disjointed. It was not until the 43rd minute when some pressure from Old Woodstock on the Hook Norton back four paid of with Ali Robinson making it 1-1.

The referee pointed straight to the spot, but to everyone’s amazement only cautioned the keeper. Old Woodstock Danny Bone stepped up to make the score 2-2 from the spot.
Old Woodstock were now on the front foot. In the 75th minute Danny Bone chased what looked like a lost cause; the Hook Norton Keeper came out and put the ball out for a throw in. Danny Bone picked the ball up and took a quick throw in to Murray Nichols and with the Keeper out of position Murray Nichols put the ball into an empty net to put Old Woodstock in the lead for the first time 2-3.
In the 81st minute a challenge form a Hook Norton player lead to players from both teams getting involved which resulted with a Hook Norton player raising his hand into the face of a Old Woodstock player. It took the referee time to sort it out and after talking to his assistant referee the referee once again only produced a Yellow card when all was expecting a Red.
Old Woodstock saw the rest of the game out to take all the points.
