Rebels edged by Tigers

A snap in the weather proved to be the story of the day in Oxford.

The Ole Miss Rebels had a fantastic week of practice leading up to what promised to be a great day for rugby. It was none of the above, an overnight storm drenched the field and brought a cold front along with it, making it around 37 degrees at kickoff. The weather caused multiple knock-ons and lead to some messy play around the rucks. The Rebels showed bright spots on such a dreary day, scoring two tries with good continuous patterns of play, one of which ending with lock Michael Curvey dotting it down under the post. Freshman winger Andrew McFann showed great skill working in the back three and finishing off the other rebel try. Though there were bright spots, the Rebels didn't come out on top according to the scoreboard, losing 20-15 to a hard-nosed Memphis squad. Memphis had two penalty kicks to the Rebels one, and with a missed conversion, those points ended up being the difference. The social was held at The Locker Room which is a new sports bar and grille located close to the pitch. Thanks to all the supporters who came out and braved the weather. The Rebels look to collect a preseason win this week against LA Tech as they come to town Saturday the 28th. Come out and support your Ole Miss Rugby Rebels! Hotty Toddy!!
