We spoke to teenager Aaron Hewitt about his first ever start in men's football.

16 year old Aaron Hewitt has made a big impact since getting involved in the Ollerton Town first team.

Aaron joined the club through his older brother Chris and immediately impressed in training. He’s since gone on to be in and around the first team squad this season, scoring in our 3-0 pre-season win over Selston and the attacking midfielder made his first start in Saturday’s 2-1 League Cup win over East Yorkshire Carnegie.

Speaking after that win, the young player spoke like a player beyond his years as he gave his verdict on his first start in men’s football.

“It went really well from start to finish,” said Aaron.

“It took a few minutes to get into the game after conceding early but as soon as we did that, we controlled the game throughout. It’s a good win.”

What made Aaron’s day even more special was that his brother Chris was making his managerial debut, stepping in with first team managers Dave Winter and Stephen Bodle unavailable.

Talking post-match, Aaron was full of praise for his brother who was dealt a difficult hand with Ollerton only being able to field a bare eleven.

“He was really solid considering what we had available. He put out a good team with the perfect positions for how everyone could play

“Overall it’s incredible really given what we had.”

After taking his first steps into adult football, Aaron is hoping to continue his progress and have a good season with the club.

“As long as I’m getting the minutes, I think this season is going to go really well,” claimed the teenager.

“I want to be getting the ball a lot, passing as a team, getting balls in and getting goals.”
