Star striker Gav King reached 50 goals for the club at the weekend.

Prolific forward Gav King reached 50 goals for the club on Saturday when his brace helped us to a 2-2 draw away at Swallownest.
Though the club initially tweeted that Gav's second goal of the game took him to the fifty mark, a follow up bit of research has actually revealed that it was his first strike which saw him reach the milestone, meaning he goes into Wednesday's cup game against Worsbrough Bridge on 51 for the club.
Gav first joined us back in 2008 from rivals Thoresby following our promotion to the Central Midlands Supreme Division. Still a teenager, Gav never really managed to recreate the goalscoring prowess he had shown at Thoresby as he ended the season with 6 goals. 4 of those goals actually came in one game! A very comfortable 9-0 victory over Harrowby United.
After leaving the club the following season, Gav spent time at several clubs in the local area including a return to Thoresby as well as spells at the likes of Sherwood and Clipstone.
Gav returned to 'The Lane' at the start of last season, linking up with several of his friends who were already with us such as captain Sam Stretton, defender Brandon Shaw and forward Lewis Bingham.
As he refound his feet at the club, Gav made a relatively slow start to the campaign, spending a fair share of time on the bench. However, that didn't stop him from netting in our opening day win against Dronfield Town as well scoring a last minute winner against Worsbrough Bridge.
Gav ultimately ended the season on 29 goals in 46 appearances, including a fantastic run of 11 goals in the final 11 games.
He's continued that amazing form into the season and he currently sits atop the NCEL Division One goalscoring chart with 16 goals in as many games.
Many congratulations to Gav on reaching 50 goals and I am sure he is already looking forward, and working hard, on trying to get to 100!
