Ordnance Survey Cricket Club

Good Day to you all,
My name is Richard Curtis and I am the Saturday XI captain for Ordnance Survey. I am new to the role this year so please bear with me as I find my feet. I thought I would contact you all to introduce myself but also to set out my plans and objectives for the season.

I would like to see the survey Saturday side achieve promotion this year, we have the added opportunity considering Wickham have now been promoted. We finished very strongly last season and with a fantastic team attitude, I would like to ensure that we always play cricket in the right spirit and keep this positive attitude throughout the season.

I would like to promote the social side of the team and have already had discussions at the AGM and with our Social secretary Ollie Read about a new years social event so please keep your eyes open for those emails.

As a team and squad I would like to ensure that we celebrate each others successes on and off the field, to this end I expect to see all players congratulating on field achievements no matter the game situation. To celebrate off the field achievement I turn to you, if you have an achievement or life event then please email me and I will work to ensure this is celebrated by your team and club mates.

I would also like to try and build this club to ensure that we are welcoming for new players and families, to this end we will be working to make partners and family more welcome wherever possible and will tailor some social events particularly for the wider club ensuring all are welcome. (This may also make families more willing to let you play every Saturday!!)

I have never been one for public criticism of players and will never run you down in front of your team or club mates, I am always open to talk to though and at the bottom of this email are my contact details which you can use to get hold of me and discuss any issues.

I look forward to leading the team to hopefully another successful and enjoyable season, I would like to see players progressing and improving wherever possible and I am still working to try and get some coaching input to the nets, I will keep you posted.

That is probably enough from me for now, one final point is that we have booked nets at the rosebowl for 15 weeks from January, the dates so you can begin clearing your diaries are detailed below, I will be sending out an email a week in advance for player availability and will always do my best to accommodate everyone, please do bring mates and new players along as this is a good time for them to get to know people.
