A great nights rugby

Normally Wigan is considered a Rugby League town but boasting 5 Union teams its not a full gone conclusion but tonight lay down a marker for the new version in the town TOUCH RUGBY.
A new fully inclusive adaptation which welcomes newcomers with open arms whether your 14 years old or 114 years old, Male or Female Touch Rugby is for you.
In partnership with the RFU Orrell RUFC hosted the 1st in a 5 week touch competion visiting each of the boroughs clubs.
Over 40 players turned out tonight a great number having never played before and each and everyone one of them came off the pitch very much out of breath but loving the game. We had on show 4 Father and Son combos and a Mother, Son and Daughter combo and a full family outing in with Mum, Dad and Son all turning out proving this is for all.
Each team played 3 games of 20 minutes brilliantly refereed by two Girls from Wigan Touch Warriors Mel Ratchford and Johanna Edgerton and it was tries a plenty with some great rugby played. Congratulations to the Aspull side that entered and Won the nights competition.
Onwards we allmarch to next Wed night at Leigh RUFC.
