Second game and after a between game snack of sausages, crisps and biscuits it was back on to play Golborne, a big strong team.
Golborne started the game very strongly but Joe G and particularly Bradley and Matthew worked hard in defence but on the last (yes sixth!!!) tackle Golborne broke through to take a 1-0 lead. From the restart Joe W made great yards before Joe G made another strong run and found the line to take the Jets square to 1-1. From the restart Ben again forced the attack over the sideline before Harry and Matthew combined to wrap up the attack but on the third tackle Golborne again took a lead at 2-1. Harry ran the ball up strongly from the restart before Lewis showed his pace and ran half the length of the pitch to bring Jets back into it at 2-2.
The Jets restarted the game with a great run from Matthew before Ben ran the ball in second tackle to score a great try on the left wing to take the Jets into the lead for the first time at 3-2. An important set followed and the Jets defence was superb. Ben ran back quarter of the length of the pitch for the first tackle, before Shay, Joe G, Matthew and Ben kept Golborne out – last tackle and four of the boys covered for the first tryless set of the game. With the clock ticking the Jets regained possession. Shay ran at the defence making great yards, before Charlie opened the defence up with a fantastic dash up the middle. Jack made a strong run, followed by Joe W and Joe G before Jake drove the ball in but the defence held on for the restart. Final set of 6 – and with the boys having no idea what score it was – defence would make the difference between a win or draw. The final set was defended well by all the team, but in particular strong, brave tacking from Ben, Joe W and Matthew kept Golborne out and Jets ended the game 3-2 victors.
