A tale of two halves

Ossett continue to try and find form and if there is anything to take from Saturday, it was our second half performance!!!

Ossett started the match looking like they were up for the challenge but a leaked try out wide saw Ossett put their heads down and concede two more tries that can only be described as soft. In fairness to York, they looked like a very well organised side that wanted to play some good rugby but missed tackles by Ossett allowed the score line to look like a bit of a mountain for Ossett to climb. Ossett struggled to keep the ball and put any momentum together. A positive from the first half was the performance, once again, from the Ossett Scrum.

Half time came and the Ossett veterans tried to rally the troops. A change of personel and positioning of players were put in place and all of a sudden Ossett were able to rectify all the ugly elements of the first half. Ossett camped out in the oppositions half for the majority of the second half and were finally rewarded with a penalty try through Ossett's strong scrummaging. York had tried to rectify this, knowing that they were under the gun, by bringing on a new tight head in an attempt to solidify their scrum on their five metre line. Unfortunaley, Butty and the front row were not phased by the increase in size of the new look York front row and the Ossett boys annihilated the York scrum and were awarded the penalty try.

Ossett would have won the second half if it were not for a last minute try out wide by the visitors.

A tell of two halves is the only way to describe this week's performance and I am hoping that Ossett turn up on Saturday ready to play like they did in the second half against York.
