Ossett Vs Oaks

Ossett continued their good league form with a comprehensive victory over a spirited Oaks side.

The Christmas period enabled Ossett to get back to near full strength, the only man missing from the squad was Louis Dunbavin.

Ossett made a bright start and were soon 12-0 up on the scoreboard with Danny Buckley and Tom Rogers and a conversion by Jack Drury. Ossett continued to play with enterprise but good defence from Oaks and basic mistakes limited Ossett to two further tries from Jack Drury and Tom Rogers to make the halftime score 22-0.

The second half saw Ossett's scrum taking control and with Jack Peat controlling the line out Ossett's strong running backs with centres Ben Kendall and Tom Rogers and fullback Shaun Abson causing havoc everytime they were brought in to the game and it was Rogers next on the score sheet with his hat trick try after a solo run and finish under the posts for Drury to add the extra points. Joe Rogers was next on the score sheet after being driven over from close range, Drury again adding the conversion. A brace of tries for winger Sam Wilkinson and one from Mark Fisher completed the scoring with Drury adding two conversions.

All in all a satisfying win for Ossett and although the backs contributed the bulk of the score the forwards played their part with both second rows John Hall and Ryan Fonquerie comfortable with ball in hand and No. 8 Dale Burnley continually breaking the gain line.
