Narrow win

Ossett maintained their unbeaten league campaign as they just held on in a humdinger of a match with Stocksbridge to win 27-24.
Stocksbridge looked a completely better outfit than the team that were hammered 57-5 earlier I n the season.
Ossett got off to a flying start after just 3 minutes. Shaun Abson punted long into the Stocksbridge 22 and their full back was tackled and taken over his own line. From the resulting scrum the ball was moved left and full-back Jack Drury joined the line to run in without a hand being put on him.
After 12 minutes Stocksbridge struck back when their fly half kicked a penalty having missed a similar chance a minute before.
Ossett extended their lead to 12-3 when Tom Rogers scored despite the attention of two tacklers. Drury converted.
A clever cross kick when they had a penalty free ball got Stocksbridge when their centre caught the kick and ran over on the left corner.
Straight from the restart Ossett struck back. Nase Alofi picked up from a scrum on half way fed Danny Buckley who put left winger Mark Fisher over in the corner.
Ossett led at half time and had dominated the set scrum but this was to all change in the second half as Stocksbridge dominated the second half.
After just two minutes the Stocksbridge centre was shown a yellow card for a high tackle, and soon afterwards Alofi followed him for the same offence. From the resulting penalty Stocksbridge licked a penalty to make -the score 17-11.
Ossett looked to have secured the win when Nathan Lawrence ran onto a lovely kick through by Buckley to secure the try bonus point. Drury converted and Ossett led 24-11 with 15 minutes left.
However, playing down the slope Stocksbridge were not to be rolled over and a series of drives by their forwards led to a try that was converted and the score was a narrow 24-16 to Ossett.
A Stocksbridge penalty made it 24-19 before Drury responded with his own penalty 27-19.
With Stocksbridge pilling on the pressure with a few minutes left John Hall was shown a yellow card for an offside. With a minute left Stocksbridge scored right in the right hand corner with the conversion missed Ossett led by 27-24.
In a nail biting finish in which the referee found five minutes of injury time Ossett grimly held on.
Ossett remain top of Division 4 South&East with 44 points. Mosborough are second on 31, York RI third and Stocksbridge fourth.
