A strangely pleasant Sunday morning (compared to the recent weather) meant Ossett were the only team in the league able to play their home match this weekend. This gave the girls the chance to meet early at the clubhouse to change and play their first game in their new kit. The new kit has amazingly all been paid for by RJS Property Solutions through a part sponsorship deal with Xamax. After the formalities of the new team photos (and when some shin pads were found for Samantha!) the game finally got under way. Ossett started well and were passing the ball around nicely with Ellie Scott and Maisie Clay looking solid at the back. As usual though they went behind to an early goal following a well worked Guiseley move. Ossett fought back though and with the introduction of Madison Ramsden and Francesca Wainwright, making her debut, started to take control of the game. It wasn’t long until they equalised when Ruby Wilson got on the end of a well worked passing move and finished with power from the corner of the box. With the scores level at half time both teams were feeling confident going into the second half. From the opening seconds Ossett dominated the second half with Guiseley’s only real chances coming on the break, although there were a couple of close ones. Despite the pressure though the game was still level but with five minutes to go that all changed. Ruby Wilson who had stayed forward following a corner dribbled into the box and did well to beat the keeper giving Ossett a slender 2 – 1 lead. Ossett defended strongly to the end with star player Madison Ramsden the stand out performer. The star player decision though was a tough one with Ruby’s well taken goals and an excellent debut performance from Francesca Wainwright running her close. Here’s to an unbeaten run in the new kit!
