Date: Sunday 1st April 2012 - Kick Off: 10:30
League
| Sherburn White Rose | 1 | vs | 5 | Ossett Albion Eagles |
Eagles crowned champions in a 5 star show.
The team travelled to Sherburn for a top of the table clash knowing that victory would clinch the title.
From the first minute the team exploded into action and were rewarded in the first few seconds by leading goal scorer Mitchell, to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The team continued to dominate possession and extended their lead thanks to a goal from Sam. If the Eagles thought this game was going to be an easy ride they were soon brought back down to earth, when Sherburn managed to pull a goal back to reduce the deficate to 2-1. The Eagles continued to have the majority of possession and continued to press the Sherburn defence with chance after chance and were finally rewarded with another goal from Wil following great work from Mitchell. Sherburn wouldn’t concede defeat and worked very hard to try to get themselves back in the game, but on the occasions when they attacked the Eagles goal they were thwarted by the ever impressive Lewis in goal. The Eagles nerves were finally settled when Jack created an opening in midfield and threaded a through ball to Sam who converted his chance to score his second goal and give the Eagles a 4-1 lead. Late on, Mitchell grabbed a second goal to extend the lead to 5-1 and clinch the title.
All of the boys played remarkably well and this performance was up there with some of the best performances of the season against a very strong Sherburn side.
Full time score 5-1 win
Man of the match – whole team
