16 members of Ossett Albion’s Junior teams were invited along to act as team mascots for the day.
Highlight of the day was the naming ceremony for the new Albion Junior’s Mascot. Junior players were asked to suggest names for the mascot with a prize for the winner. Goldie suggested by Freya Gothard was chosen and Ossett Albion chairman Stephen Hanks presented the prize to her.
The met the players and coaches, did a training session with head coach Phil Thompson, walked out with the players and took part in the respect handshake. They were also presented with an Ossett Albion scarf and certificate as a memento of the day and took part in a penalty shoot out at half time.
Speaking later Secretary of the Juniors Ian Gothard said “Another great day out for our Juniors with plenty of compliments received from parents who attended. One in particular, received from several parents was how friendly the Albion players were to our juniors, talking to them and making them really feel at ease. Please pass on these comments to the lads on my behalf.”
