New owners making their mark at Albion

Two weeks have passed now since the new owners took charge at Ossett Albion and to say they've started positively would be an understatement.

On and off the field things are developing fast. With the signing of 10 new players to date, and more to come, Albion have transformed their dreary start to the season and now accumulated seven points from the last three games.

The first of those came with a win against Radcliffe followed by an away draw at Prescot Cables and on Tuesday night just gone, the Unicorns continued their unbeaten 're-start' with a last minute winner at home to Colne FC.

These seven points have taken Ossett out of the drop zone and manager Dave Haley couldn't be happier:

"The new lads coming in have had a job to do and without any hesitation they have set about it and done themselves proud."

It's always difficult when a new management team take over normally you have to allow some bedding in time. Being bottom of the league without a win, Ossett had no time to allow this process to take place.

Notable performances have come in the form of Andy Welsh, former Sunderland midfielder who has scored in both games Ossett Have won, coincidentally both goals coming in the 91st minute of each game! Brett Souter, who joined from Sheffield Club has been nothing short of solid in goal and Kieran Scargill, Dom Riorden and James Hurtley who have all fought for a place in the new look team have shown why they belong at Ossett Albion with some wonderful performances.

Dave Haley has also looked to the younger ranks for inspiration and talent and has signed a handful of junior stars up for first team duties including Red Bates, who came on against Colne on Tuesday night and looked every bit as dangerous at Evo-Stik level as he does normally at Under-18's. One to keep an eye on for the future.

This weekend Albion take on Droylsden in the FA Trophy and on the back of a positive start to their new tenure-ship the team from Dimplewells are looking to progress further.

Haley added: "We have a chance this weekend to take a little break from the league and see if our boys can put the things we have been working on into practice against a well organised Droylsden side who will no doubt be coming here for a win. We are changing the culture here, on and off the pitch and so far the signs are very positive, but this is just the beginning."
