First Round Cup Success for Ossett Seniors
After a disappointing performance in the league Ossett 1st team restore momentum with a cup win, as the 2nd team also record an emphatic cup victory.
Ossett First Team put a stinging six wicket league loss firmly behind them as they returned to winning ways against Brook-Walton in the opening round of the Heavy Woollen Cup on Sunday 24th of April.
The away fixture enabled both bowlers and batsman to show their qualities.
Chris Orme and Shabir Rashid took 3 crisp wickets apiece, with Khalid Usman mopping up a further 2, a good demonstration of economic bowling all round.
Khalid Usman then took charge with the bat producing an excellent 44 not out, followed by Shabir Rashid with a solid knock of 37 as Javid Umarij delivered a valuable 25.
Meanwhile, Ossett Second Team simply blew Brook-Walton away in the first round of the Crowther Cup at Queens Terrace. That said Brook-Walton posted a reasonable total of 189, but were simply not prepared for a superbly struck 130 run onslaught from Gavin Goodlad , who also took two wickets, as Ossett ran out winners on 190 for 2.
