No goals score by upcoming Town opponents on the opening day

Whilst we picked up three points at Prescot Cables yesterday thanks to a penalty from Ash Jackson and a debut goal for Kai Hancock, how were our upcoming opponents getting on?

First up is Scarborough Athletic who travel to Ingfield on Tuesday, were captained by former Town player/assistant manager Dave Merris and also named ex Ingfielders Tommy Taylor and Lewis Clarkson in their squad were held to a goaless draw at home to Hyde. Another side with former Town players in Peter Crook, Jack Stockdill, Tyrone Gay, Paddy Miller and David Brown.

Next weekend we travel to Evo-Stik South side Sheffield FC in the FA Cup, they started their season with a 3-0 defeat at Carlton Town who saw Daz Lucas make his debut having move to Nottinghamshire in the summer.

Next up for Town, on 26 August, is a home game with Droylsden who slipped up 2-0 at Clitheroe on the opening day thanks to a goal in each half by Sefton Gonzales and Kurt Willoughby.

August action ends for us at Ossett Albion on Bank Holiday Monday, they opened their Evo-Stik North season with a 3-0 home defeat to Colwyn Bay which see’s them sit bottom of the league at this early stage.

Goalless with 20 minute remaining they were undone by late goals from Astley Mullholland (2) and Jack Kelleher.
