Friday 4 August, 7pm

Friday evening will see the final pre-season friendly of the summer at Ossett Town as we host the World’s Oldest Club, Sheffield FC at 7pm.

Our two sides met regularly through the 1990’s in the NCEL Premier Division with Sheffield FC coming out on top in the first half of the decade before an upsurge in form from Ossett Town saw us beat our South Yorkshire friends on four consecutive occasions.

Since our promotion to the Evo-Stik League North, and Sheffield playing in the Southern section, we have met just three times this Millennium, each time in the League Cup.
In 2009 Sheffield won here at Ingfield 1-0 before Town won an entertaining game in Sheffield 3-2 in 2013.

Twelve months later we were at it again as the draw saw us play away to Sheffield again, the home side winning the game in horrific conditions 5-3, but the game was memorable to many Ossett Town officials as it saw the debut, and two goals, for Tom Smith. The teenager has played at Ossett Town since the age of five years old scoring in every age group and completed the set in this game.

Smith has not yet made the breakthrough into the first team but continues to hit the net for the Reserves managed by John Francis.

Admission to the game is:

£5 Adults
£3 Concessions
£1 under 16s
Free under 5s
