Kelly was an every popular coach from Hemsworth, at the time of his death he was the manager of our u19 side, which included a number of players that have made first team appearances for the club, including Joe Hitch, Ryan White, Sam Pashley and Tom Smith.
As well as his role at Ingfield, the Huddersfield Town supporter ran many coaching groups for young players in the area, he made a huge impact on many many people and as well as this game there are other tributes to him also, including Kelly’s Sports bar here at Ossett Town, the naming of a housing development in Hemsworth ‘Kelly’s Gardens’ and a mural at Wakefield Soccer Centre where he often coached.
Saturday’s game at the NuBuilds Stadium will kick-off at 3pm with Hemsworth reducing admission to half price, Adults will gain entry for £3, concessins £1 and u14s are Free.
Whilst there is a trophy at stake, and two sides preparing for important league seasons, the memory of Steve will be at the front of the minds of everyone involved from both clubs.
