Tuesday 26 September, 7:45pm Evo-Stik North

We welcome Mossley to Ingfield on Tuesday evening for our ninth Evo-Stik North game of the season. We start the game in 12th place with 13 points, one place and two points behind our opponents who have played a game more.

Mossley reached the first qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup this season, losing after a replay to 1874 Northwich – our opponents this weekend in the third qualifying round.

The Lilywhites will be full of confidence having inflicted a first defeat of the season on Ramsbottom United at the weekend, they opened the scoring in the first half through centre back Jamie McLellan who headed home a free-kick before adding a second by Elliott Harrison with 20 minutes remaining.

Games between the two sides are often close affaire, more often than not the sides have been separated by the odd goal. Last season we did the double over our opponents thanks to a 2-0 away victory that was backed up by a 1-0 home win, which were our first victories in this fixture since the 13/14 season.

Full back Ashley Jackson believes the positive feeling at the club will help extend the run against Mossley to three wins “We are confident we can get the job done, and we need no less than three points. Mossley have had a strong start to the season, we know it is going to be another test, the game will help us understand how far we have come from last season”.

Jackson continued “This month we have had some difficult games against sides that will be in the top six yet in each one we have competed and played some good football. No side has carved us open which builds confidence”.

“We had a tough game at the weekend at Hyde, personally I felt disappointed to only come away with a point as we had opportunities to win the game and after going 1-0 up.

They didn’t really carved us open to score their goal. In the end I think it was a tough game and a draw was a fair result for both teams; two good sides showing why they will be up there come the end of the season”.

Jackson was impressed with new signing Danny South who made his debut at the weekend, and believes his presence will suit his own game too “The gaffers brought him in and he’s showed the rest of us what he can add to the team. He can give us that extra bit of strength and physicality that compliments what players we already have. Danny also has a great touch for a big man which helps us when the defence is under pressure, which isn’t too bad for me as it allows me to get up the pitch and support”.
