For the last away game of the season, the Otley team will be bolstered by a coach load of travelling supporters. When Sedgley Park came to Cross Green last December, even though they were two places above us in the league, they were comprehensively beaten 39-10. Otley scored seven tries that day, having come off a similar mauling to one we received last week against Ampthill.

That win saw Otley go above Sedgley in the league, a position held until the first week in February when we lost at Huddersfield and Sedgley beat Chester away by a single point. Since then Sedgley have gone as high as third, but have been knocked down a place following a points’ deduction for fielding an unregistered player. How we know that feeling!

While both sides knowing that they are neither promotion or relegation candidates, it will be Pennine bragging rights at stake. Otley lead the series 8 to 5, and while most of our wins were in the early years, December’s win will hopefully give us the momentum to extend the margin.
