2017 has been a year to forget for Otley, and now is the time to turn things around. With five straight defeats, albeit with some creditable performances during some of the games, means a home win this Saturday is imperative. We need to invoke some of the spirit we showed against Harrogate and Caldy and recapture our brilliant home form and distance ourselves from the relegation battle.

Scunthorpe are currently thirteenth in the league, above Wharfedale who have the same number of points but crucially a game in hand. This puts them into the relegation mix, and Scunthorpe will be buoyed by their away win against Preston Grasshoppers two weeks ago and the fact they beat us down at Heslam Park – in a game that initially we were all over them but couldn’t put away our chances.

A home win will put some space between us and Harrogate (they play Leicester Lions) away, and would help our other near rivals Wharfedale (home to Sheffield Tigers).
